In this work, the agency of objects becomes visible during the process of cutting. The spearhead, driven by the electric tread, assumes the role of an active agent, while the copper column becomes the object being acted upon. As the scratch deepens, the boundary between the spearhead and the copper column begins to blur and reconfigure. The copper column, in turn, becomes an active participant in wearing down the spearhead. Through the interaction between the spearhead and the copper column, the division between subject and object shifts, evolving with the situation and over time. Yet, in most cases, people only notice the sharp point, overlooking the resistance of the copper column.
The obvious spearhead dominates the visual center, its deliberate motion drawing the viewer’s attention. However, the real power doesn’t lie in the spearhead, but in the resistance concealed beneath the surface. The copper column, though seemingly silent and still, gradually reveals scratches through its subtle yet resilient opposition. It is this barely perceptible resistance that gives shape and meaning to these marks. These often-overlooked forces of resistance compel us to confront hidden problems, allowing the issues and the complex relationships behind them to be brought to light.
